This month, five local students from the Bronx Junior Photo League received Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, a prestigious national competition founded in 1923 by the Alliance for Artists and Writers and judged by a panel of renown visual and literary artists.
Internationally acclaimed photographer Joseph Rodriguez’s latest photography show, “El Barrio in the ‘80s,” will be on display at the Bronx Documentary Center until Dec. 23.
“Whose Streets? Our Streets!” gathers decades-old photographs of protests in a city known for giving birth to different sorts of activism.
The Bronx Documentary Center has opened a photography library to celebrate the legacy of the late Tim Hetherington, a British photographer and award-winning filmmaker who was tragically killed covering the front lines of the war in Libya at the age of 40.
By encouraging photography of Bronx scenes and organizing free exhibitions at which to display the resulting work, the group seeks to improve residents’ appreciation of their borough.
Krasdale Foods Arts Galleries is exhibiting photographs of 80 artists from all over the borough as part of the Bronx Artist Documentary Project through March 15, 2015.
