Days after a gunman walked into the 41st Precinct station house on Longwood Ave. and began firing at officers, a second person allegedly planning another attack on NYPD officers was arrested, this time by federal agents.
Albert Quiñones, a major figure in the cultural resurrection of the South Bronx during the decades when buildings burned and city government went MIA, died on Dec. 2 after a long illness. He was 65.
Garifuna are the descendants of Afro-indigenous people from the Caribbean Island of St. Vincent, and mainly reside in Honduras, and Belize in Central America. There are currently nearly 200,000 Garifuna living in New York City, with the largest concentration in the South Bronx.
