Teachers stage Hunts Point rally

Teachers participated in a rally in Hunts Point on March 4 to protest budget cuts and the city’s plan to lay teachers off.

More than 30 members of the United Federation of Teachers distributed leaflets from Faile Street to Bruckner Boulevard, and spoke to residents headed for work or to PS 75.

“Our teachers know that the future of the children and the future of this great nation are contingent upon making education a priority for all of its citizens” said Phyllis C. Murray, the union chapter leader at PS 75. Everyone should become involved in keeping the public in pubic education.”
